Is the app fully offline?
Yes for core use. The library and study aids ship on device. After install, browsing, close reading, recite (system TTS), Encouraging Learning Academy, widgets, and local daily notifications work without network. Optional exceptions: StoreKit tipping (Apple), sharing to another app you choose, and optional iCloud. Ask Xunzi uses on-device Apple Intelligence when available and does not require an iHTC Studio network.
How is this different from a simple ebook?
iXunZi is a Xunzi studio: close reading with original / vernacular / English, karaoke-style recite, Encouraging Learning Academy, Xun Hunt, Daily Xun, 荀 cards, widgets, optional Live Activity, Siri & Shortcuts — not a static dump. Theme shelves (learning, ritual, heaven–human, names, politics…); Xun–Meng contrast; idioms; optional Ask Xunzi; 4 widget kinds; 8 alternate icons.
What texts are included?

Originals are public-domain. Vernacular, English, and notes are curated study aids, not academic critical editions.
What is Ask Xunzi?
An optional on-device guide (ixunzi://ask) using Apple Intelligence Foundation Models on iOS 26+ / macOS 26+ when available. Questions and passage context stay on the device. If the model is unavailable, bundled commentary still opens.
What study modes are available?
Fade, fill-blank, self-check, and quiz, with mastery tracking. Xun Hunt on Home is a separate find-the-passage game.
What is Daily Xun?
A daily passage on Home, optionally contextual, with optional local reminders. Widgets can keep it on the Home Screen, Lock Screen, and StandBy.
What does iCloud Sync cover?
Optional sync for favorites, lists (荀单 lists), notes, reading history, study progress, and streaks via your private iCloud KVS.
