iXunZi (爱荀子 / 愛荀子) is an offline Xunzi studio — not another plain text dump. No account required. The Xunzi library ships on your device with original / vernacular / English. Start from Daily Xun. Recite with paragraph highlighting. Practice in Encouraging Learning Academy. Play Xun Hunt. Export 荀 cards. Add widgets, optional Reading Live Activity, Siri & Shortcuts, and optional iCloud. Optional Ask Xunzi uses Apple on-device Intelligence when available. Originals are public-domain study texts; notes are study aids. No ads. No tracking. Data Not Collected.

Getting Started (step by step)

1. First launch

  1. Install from the App Store and open iXunZi.
  2. Complete the welcome guide (daily reading → close reading → recite → study → system features → privacy).
  3. Replay anytime: Settings → Help → Feature Guide (ixunzi://feature-guide).
  4. Usage / Widget / Shortcuts guides live under Settings → Help.

2. Read today’s passage on Home

  1. Open the Home tab.
  2. The Daily Xun hero shows today’s passage; tap to open detail.
  3. Optional: enable local Daily Xun notifications in Settings.
  4. Jump from Home into recite, Encouraging Learning Academy, Xun Hunt, favorites, and search.

3. Browse & search

  1. Browse the full Xunzi corpus, famous lines, and specialty shelves.
  2. Search titles and lines (Simplified / Traditional friendly). On iOS, optional handwriting search recognizes characters on device.
  3. Star passages into Favorites and gather them into personal 荀单 lists.

4. Close reading & share cards

  1. Switch bilingual / Chinese only / English only; toggle layers independently where available.
  2. Try immersive reading, vertical layout, font scale, and segmented pages for longer passages.
  3. Optional Ask Xunzi: ixunzi://ask — on-device Apple Intelligence when available; falls back to bundled notes.
  4. Open 荀 cards → pick style / ratio → save to Photos (add-only) or system share.

5. Recite & Encouraging Learning Academy

  1. Open the recitation workbench for highlighted TTS, adjustable voice and pace, optional vernacular / English captions, continuous play, and background audio.
  2. Encouraging Learning Academy (ixunzi://study): fade, fill-blank, self-check, and quiz, with mastery tracking.
  3. Xun Hunt on Home is a separate find-the-passage game.

6. Widgets, Siri & system features

  1. Add Daily / Famous Line / Favorites / Study Progress widgets (and Almanac where available).
  2. Use Control Center, Siri, Spotlight, and ixunzi:// deep links.
  3. Optional Reading Live Activity stays available on supported iPhone devices.

7. Privacy & sync

  1. Library, reading, recite (system TTS), study, widgets, and local notifications work fully offline after install.
  2. Optional iCloud Sync mirrors favorites, lists, history, progress, streaks, and notes through your private iCloud.
  3. Tip the developer (optional StoreKit) never unlocks a paywall and never creates an account.
