iDictionary (爱字词典) is a fully offline Chinese character learning dictionary — your pocket library of Chinese writing. No account required. After a one-time database setup on first launch, everything runs on your device: 20,000+ hanzi, 320,000+ words, 49,000+ idioms, and 9,500+ stroke-order SVG animations. Look up by pinyin, radical, stroke count, handwriting, or camera OCR; listen to Mandarin TTS; flip daily character and daily idiom cards; and stay close to learning with widgets, Live Activity, Control Center, Siri, Shortcuts, and Spotlight. Optional iCloud sync for favorites — default off. No ads. No tracking.
Getting Started
- On first launch, wait briefly while the offline database inflates (~155 MB) — then you’re fully offline forever.
- Complete the welcome guide (re-open anytime in Settings → Guides).
- Use Search for characters, words, idioms, or pinyin — or browse by radical, stroke count, frequency, and polyphones.
- Tap any character for detail: pinyin, radical, strokes, structure, variants, definitions, citations, and stroke-order animation.
- Try Handwriting lookup or OCR camera scan when you see a character you don’t know.
- Open Daily Character or Daily Idiom flip cards on the home screen.
- Star entries to Favorites; revisit History anytime.
- Add widgets (home & lock screen), enable Live Activity for today’s character, or ask Siri to look up a character.
