Is the app fully offline?
Yes for core use. The library, vernacular, English, and study aids ship on device. After install, browsing, close reading, recite (system TTS), Heart School, widgets, and local daily notifications work without network. Optional exceptions: StoreKit tipping (Apple), sharing to another app you choose, and optional iCloud.
How is this different from a simple ebook?
iXin is a Yangming studio: bilingual close reading, a Knowing-Acting journal, Three Questions of Liangzhi, concept graph / timeline / map / people, karaoke-style recite, Heart School, Heart Hunt, Daily Insight, insight cards, widgets, optional Live Activity, Siri & Shortcuts — not a static dump of Chuanxilu.
What texts are included?
102 passages of Wang Yangming’s school:
- Chuanxilu (Instructions for Practical Living)
- Inquiry on the Great Learning
- Instructions to Students at Longchang
- Essay on Burying Travelers, plus poems, annals, concept cards, and selected letters
8 authors in the circle · 100 famous lines. English follows the spirit of Henke (1916) as a study aid.
Originals are public-domain. Vernacular, English, and notes are curated study aids, not academic editions.
What is the Knowing-Acting journal?
A daily known / acted / reflect log (ixin://journal) so 知行合一 is practiced, not only read. Three Questions of Liangzhi (ixin://liangzhi) is a short conscience prompt. Optional iCloud can mirror journal entries through your private KVS.
What study modes are available?
Fade, fill-blank, self-check, and quiz, with mastery tracking. Heart Hunt on Home is a separate find-the-passage game.
What is Daily Insight?
A daily passage on Home, optionally contextual, with optional local reminders. Widgets can keep it on the Home Screen, Lock Screen, and StandBy.
What does iCloud Sync cover?
Optional sync for favorites, lists (心单), notes, reading history, study progress, and streaks, and Knowing-Acting journal via your private iCloud KVS.
