Is the app fully offline?
Yes for core use. All 122 passages and 1661 character cards ship on device. After install, browsing, reading, recite (system TTS), Primer Hall, Hunt, widgets, and local daily notifications work without network. Optional exceptions: StoreKit tipping (Apple), optional system translation, and sharing to another app you choose.
How is this different from a simple classics reader?
iThousand is a literacy studio: bilingual + vernacular + pinyin, stroke-order character cards, karaoke-style recite, Primer Hall (recitation / fill-blank / self-check / quiz / Hunt), contextual Daily Line, share cards (千卡), five widget types, optional Live Activity, Siri & Shortcuts — not a static dump of text.
What texts are included?
122 passages: Thousand Character Classic (stanza groups), San Zi Jing, Hundred Family Surnames, and Di Zi Gui, plus 1661 character cards and 104 famous lines.
What are character cards?
Tap a character in a passage to open sound, meaning, radical, stroke count, and stroke-order animation. Bookmark hard characters into Saved Characters and add the Saved Characters widget.
What does “recite” mean here?
Product term for read-aloud. Follow line highlighting while listening. In Settings you can configure what is spoken (title / author / body × original / vernacular / English) independently from what you see.
What study modes are available?
Recitation, fill-blank, self-check, quiz, plus Hunt (寻字). Mastery has levels with streaks. You can practice a single passage or a batch from favorites / lists (千单).
What is the Daily Line?
A contextual recommendation (solar terms / lunar festivals / seasons) with same-day cache. Optional local reminders.
What does iCloud Sync cover?
Optional sync for favorites, lists, saved characters, famous-line favorites, reading history, study progress, streaks, and notes via your private iCloud KVS.
Do you collect my data?
