Why do I only hear 30 seconds?
You are not subscribed to Apple Music, or the subscription status is still unknown. The 30 seconds are Apple’s catalog preview, not a corrupt file. Subscribe in Apple Music, return to iMusic, and play again — you do not need to re-authorize. A line on the mini bar can be hidden in Settings; hiding it does not change the preview length.
Is this another Apple Music skin?
No. iMusic is a listening studio: original guides (offline), an immersive player, song ID, Daily Piece, cards and widgets. Audio is not hosted here. Full-length play uses MusicKit after you authorize it. The app is not affiliated with Apple.
Are the guides offline?
Yes. 4,800+ guides, artist notes, categories and collections ship in the app. Reading, notes, lists, widgets and local notifications work without a network. Playback, artwork fetch, song ID and optional tipping need Apple services.
Do you include lyrics?
No. Guides and listen tips are written by iMusic. We do not bundle licensed lyrics.
What is Daily Piece vs Roam vs “another one”?
Daily Piece picks from calendar / festival / season / mood pools. Another one redraws from today’s pool (and updates the widget / pending notification). Roam is a whole-library shuffle.
Song ID asks for the microphone — do you keep audio?
No. The microphone is requested only when you open Recognize. Recognition runs through Apple ShazamKit. We do not keep a recording. A hit in the curated library opens that guide.
Why is there a Live Activity when I read, but not when I play?
Reading a guide can show Lock Screen / Dynamic Island (default on; Settings → Listening). Tap it to return to the piece. Playing music uses the system Now Playing bar only — no custom island.
What does iCloud Sync cover?
Optional: favorites, listen lists, later, notes, history, recitation progress, streaks. Not the guide library, not artwork files, not preview audio.
Can I save music cards to Photos?
Yes. Saving requests Photo Library add-only. Images are rendered on device.
Do you collect my data?
