Is the app fully offline?
Yes for core use. All 174 passages are bundled. After install, browsing, reading, recite (system TTS), study, widgets, and local daily notifications work without network. Optional exceptions: StoreKit tipping (Apple), and sharing to another app you choose.
How is this different from a simple classics reader?
iArtOfWar is a studio: bilingual + vernacular reading, karaoke-style recite with a playback content matrix, Strategy classroom (recitation / fill-blank / self-check / quiz / Hunt), contextual Daily Stratagem, share cards, widgets, optional Live Activity, Siri & Shortcuts — not a static dump of text.
What texts are included?
174 passages: The Art of War, Sun Bin, the Wujing classics (吴子 / 司马法 / 六韬 / 三略 / 尉缭子 / 李卫公问对), and the Thirty-Six Stratagems, plus 101 famous lines / stratagems and 9 authors.
What does “recite” mean here?
Product term for read-aloud. Follow paragraph highlighting while listening. In Settings you can configure what is spoken (title / author / body × original / vernacular / English) independently from what you see. When a continuous queue finishes, you can jump into the Strategy classroom.
What study modes are available?
Recitation, fill-blank, self-check, quiz, plus Hunt (寻谋). Mastery has levels with streaks. You can practice a single segment or a batch from favorites / strategy lists (兵单).
What is the Daily Stratagem?
A recommendation based on solar terms, lunar festivals, and seasons, with same-day cache. Optional local reminders.
Why do some Sun Bin chapters look incomplete?
Silver Sparrow Hill (银雀山) manuscripts are fragmentary. The app shows a one-time note at the top of the original text for those chapters; academic endnotes are not repeated under every verse.
What does iCloud Sync cover?
Optional sync for favorites, strategy lists, reading history, study progress, and streaks via your private iCloud KVS.
